The lead cellar, located since 1984 in an adjacent building of the Bremen Cathedral is without doubt one of the strangest sights in Bremen. A number of mummified carcasses and the mummies of six people can be seen in their open coffins.
Originally, the lead cellar in the east crypt of the Bremen Cathedral was located. In 1822, however, the mummies were removed from the cryt into a side room - the former coal cellar.
